Rites as collective festivity, as vital stability, corporal experience, eroticism and seduction. Rites as a form of recognising oneself as part of the group, as a manner of transcending the collective me. Symbols and images that generate community.
The encounter with oneself.
The other.
Rita o el devenir. Topografías desde el margen is a physical theatre play that investigates rituals, inviting the audience to enter into its symbolic universe.
It stems from the need to open up a space of reflection regarding rites as a form of social cohesion, of segregation and construction of identity, at the personal and community levels. With the staging of the play, Kermés Teatro questions the existence of ritual spaces, their adaptation and their reinvention.
Kermés was founded in 2020 as the result of a friendship and the need to generate spaces for encounters and reflection, in which to speak about all our different realities.
We see the stage as a place for social and aesthetic commitments in which to question human relations and their essence. A place where questions do not always expect an answer.
