Drama in three acts in which the fate of the characters is marked by a supernatural force that drags them to a seemingly inevitable tragic end. The bride’s elopement on her wedding day with her former lover unleashes the ghosts that lie dormant in a claustrophobic community where the earth has already been irrigated with blood. La Tramoya reinterprets Bodas de sangre with a markedly social and inclusive focus. Poetry, folklore, passion..., perhaps even love, intermingle with symbolic characters of this fatality, such as the Moon and the Beggar Woman.
La Tramoya was created in 1992 as a therapeutic and integrating activity at an occupational centre in Madrid. By the year 2000 it had turned into a stable professional company. It is currently based in the capital’s Plot Point theatre as a resident company, and its shows are regularly included in national and international cultural programmes.
