La loca historia del Siglo de Oro is the portrait of a Spain full of lights and shadows, kings, painters, playwrights, clergy, rogues and comedians –of a society guided by the designs of God and Kings– and brings to the stage some of the fundamental issues of that time that are still relevant today. This is done through a unique visual and aesthetic language: an almost empty space in which the actors and actresses interact with a subtle scenography in which common objects are transformed to tell the story. The classical texts are adorned with gestural, clown and circus theatre, humour and live music at the service of the narration of this crazy story.
What identifies La Escalera de Tijera and Z Teatro is their capacity to combine different artistic disciplines such as theatre, work with the body and circus. Their proposals are based on a search for dramatic quality through commitment and meticulous processes of creation, producing a fresh and dynamic revision of the concepts of classic theatre mixed with clowning, commedia dell’arte and other forms of artistic expression.
